Southland Honors
Award Descriptions & Nominating Criteria
The Los Angeles Leather Coalition seeks to
facilitate communication and mutual understanding among different segments of
the leather - affiliated community, as well as promote unity through cooperative
endeavors that offer entertainment, education, social interaction, and community
service.
The Southland Honors awards were created to nurture an attitude of
integrity and community pride, preserve tradition, and to recognize community
service.
The Chair and
Vice chair of the coalition, and individuals who won in 2008 are not eligible
in any category in 2009. These people are are: Alexi Romanoff,
slavegirl debbie, Meredyth and Sarah, Charlie Matula / Hunter Fox, Mike Gerle,
Mark A. Vierra.
Person of the Year
What individual has been most active, or been the biggest influence on, or
spokesperson for the Southland Leather community in 2007-2008?
Mentor of the Year
Who in our
community exemplifies the tradition of teaching, mentoring and passing
on knowledge. This can be play technique, but it is also passing on
tradition, specific skills, or teaching an attitude of community service,
integrity and respect. We are not only seeking authors, presenters and leather circuit
speakers, but any community members who transmit their
skills and values by example as well as teaching.
Jeff Burnam Community Service Award
This award recognizes those who
are of service for altruistic
reasons rather than for personal gain or publicity. These folks work quietly and
consistently in the background to make community groups, events and services
succeed. Consider the individual's follow through as well as their
intentions when nominating for this award. Those who are at the event first and leave last, or those who are nearly always there
without being asked to lend
a hand are good candidates for this award.
